法语翻译、比利时翻译公司经理Francoaz Vilmar为聚会揭幕，并向众多国内外同行介绍了自己的经验和结论。她认为阅读是翻译过程中最重要的阶段，严谨的教育是有愿望从事翻译工作的人的前提条件，而劣质的翻译作品是对他国人民文化的摧残。
来自波兰的Magdalena Petrinska指出：因特网提供了翻译在工作中可以利用的信息海洋，然而不久前她得知：具有翻译功能的手机已经成为最新的技术奇迹。虽然电脑无论何时也分辨不出言语的细微变化和修辞上的美观，但戈尔丹娜.蒂莫维奇同意电脑特别是电子辞典能够让翻译工作变得轻松和快捷的看法。因特网上还能够查找到关于作家以及它所处的时代的资料，而这对翻译很重要。克罗地亚的安哥拉语翻译斯洛博丹.德莱诺瓦茨把自己的翻译工作定义为“用另一种语言对原文的意思进行重新编码”。他还介绍说在美国不久前展示了翻译领域最新的技术成就：人用英语讲话，而观众能够同步听到计算机的西班牙语和德语翻译。
对于参加者来说更感兴趣的是由参加者以某个具体的例子为基础谈自己的翻译工作。亚历山大.格鲁博尔认为翻译应该完全忠实于原文作者，而不应搀杂进自己的观点立场。澳大利亚的Filip Grandi 认为翻译诗歌时最重要的是不仅翻译词语，还要翻译出诗歌的韵味。
5月28日还举行了塞尔维亚笔会中心颁发2005年度最佳外语翻译奖的仪式。获奖者为Lilijan 和Rejmond Fiyilija夫妇——斯拉夫学家、将塞尔维亚文学作品译成法语的翻译伉俪。
